Coco Mademoiselle EDP Intense

I can’t lie, my heart belongs to No.5, partially because of the soapy notes which are also threaded through Coco Mademoiselle EDP Intense. I can’t remember the original Coco well enough to say how it compares but there is something very familiar about this fragrance that I am very much enjoying wearing.

The juice is exactly the right colour for the notes – I get so much orange from this and love the fruitiness of the whole composition. It’s citrussy but not sharp with the mellowness of bergamot to settle it, and on me, it takes a good while before the rose and jasmine come through. Anything with a jasmine note usually works for me and while there is patchouli in the mix too, I’m thankfully not picking it up.

There’s something rather mercurial about this – you feel it’s very fresh at first spray but it does deepen and when that happens, the vanilla notes, which are smooth not sickly, round out the citrussy edges. I had a fleeting gourmande feel from it. It’s very definitely back into familiar Chanel fragrance territory after the departure of Gabrielle which people either loved or loathed and nothing much in between.

100ml is £116 and 50ml is £82. It’s launching March 1st if you feel tempted.
