GEORGE TOWN, March 3 — The Penang International Food Festival (PIFF2018), which also showcases the best of Penang’s street food, will be back for a second year next month.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said they hope to attract even more people this time round.
“The two-day event last year saw more than 260,000 visitors and we hope to break this record this year,” he said when announcing the event at his office yesterday.
PIFF 2028 will be held over 16 days starting from April 14 until April 29.
The main event — a street food festival — will kick off from 5pm to 11pm on April 14 and 15 at Beach Street.
Lim said Penang’s famed hawker fare will be featured during the two-day event in George Town.
The second major event will be a Taste of Penang (TOP) along Jalan Kelawei on April 21 and 22.
TOP will feature Penang’s popular cafes, hotels and restaurants that specialise in modern Penang cuisine.
The final event, on April 28 and 29, will feature 150 food trucks from all over Malaysia in the Food Truck Invasion (FTI) at Design Village Outlet Mall in Batu Kawan.
There will also be mini events throughout the two weeks including Meatless Monday, mini curry festival, RM2 food fest, Thirsty Thursday and Crispy Friday.
