My Experience with Lotus Herbals Colorkick Lip Sugar Rose:
Lotus Herbals Colorkick Lip Sugar – Sugar Rose comes in a twistable, pretty pink tube-like packaging. The tube is not evenly shaped and looks more like a bottle with transparent cap. The cap shuts with the sound of a click, which ensures that it will not come off on its own. The packaging is very sturdy. Unlike other lip balms, this one comes housed in a transparent box. The outer box houses only product description while the tube itself bears only the shade name.
The ingredient list is completely missing. All the lips sugars have similar packaging and can be differentiated with the shade name written at the bottom. Other than that, the lip sugar has a transparent cap which also makes easy to identify the shade. When the bullet is twisted down, it completely goes into the tube, which prevents it from breaking. Overall, the packaging is pretty cute, easy to use, and travel-friendly.
‘Sugar Rose’ is a beautiful red shade. It has a glossy sheen to it which enhances the lips perfectly. The shade looks very deep and richly pigmented in the bullet but actually is lightly pigmented. The shade almost looks clear with a wash of red in a single swipe, but with multiple swipes (3 to 4 swipes on hand swatches), it shows off its true colour.
On my pigmented lips, it starts to show up with about 4 to 5 swipes and cannot hide the pigmentation. My mom has more pigmented lips than mine, and in her case, the colour shows up in 6 to 7 swipes. When the shade is layered, it does not feel heavy at all. Even though the color payoff is light the lip sugar gives even strokes. There is no patchiness during application. On the top of that, Lotus lip sugar comes with SPF 20.
The lip sugar in the shade ‘Sugar Rose’ has a rich, creamy, thick texture that glides over the lips without any tugging or pulling. Despite having a thick texture, there is no waxy feeling. The formula of this lip sugar is very lightweight and non-sticky. There are very tiny particles in the balm which seem to be sugar. It does not feel gritty over the lips at all. It also does not feel uncomfortable, even after swiping it multiple times.
It does have a mild and pleasant fragrance, which can only be noticed while sniffing or applying the product. The fragrance is not very noticeable once I am done with the application of the balm. This lip sugar hydrates the lips instantly and treats dryness and flakiness from the first use itself. It stays on the lips for 3 to 4 hours, provided I haven’t licked it off already.
Even after that, the lips stay nourished. It does leave a stain behind on my lips which can be easily removed. With the regular usage, it improves the texture of the lips. My lips become less dry than before and stay soft. It heals dry and chapped lips effectively. It also works well as an exfoliator.
To use, I apply it to my lips and massage them gently. It buffs off the flaky skin and moisturises them. When I use the lip sugar overnight, it keeps my lips hydrated all night long and I wake up to nourished lips. Overall, if you ask me to choose between Maybelline Baby Lips and Lotus Lip Sugar, I would opt for Lotus Lip Sugar because these are not at all sticky and provide better healing power.
Also, the packaging is super-duper cute and the product has a pleasant fragrance. However, if you ask me to choose between Maybelline Candy Wow and Lotus Lip Sugar, then I would opt for Maybelline Candy Wow as they are more pigmented. But, in the end, I will be having both Maybelline Candy Wow and Lotus Lip Sugar.
