L’Occitane #LightforSight Candle

I’m always happy to see L’Occitane’s charity candle – the brand has always supported global sight issues and of course, this is no different. Most of L’Occitane’s packaging has braille writing on it and you’ll find the product description in braille underneath on the tin. Those little raised dots that mean nothing to the sighted are everything to the blind.

L’Occitane #LightforSight Candle

This year, L’Occitane is working with Unicef so the official title of the candle is the Unicef Solidarity candle. 100% of the profits from the candle go straight to Unicef and each candle represents a year’s supply of Vitamin A supplements for 5 children. Vitamin A is crucial for growth, development and most importantly, resistance to disease, with studies showing that mortality rated drop by almost a quarter in certain countries when it’s taken. It’s a crucial part of keeping children’s development, including sight, healthy. Personally, I think it’s very reasonable at £9 and especially when you realise that L’Occitane, as a group, gave one million euros to Unicef last year and are already supporting 400,000 children with Vitamin A supplements.

If you’re an early Christmas shopper, I like it as a gift with something more – coming in at under a tenner, it’s the perfect thing to have lurking for that ‘unexpected’ gift exchange! This year’s design is created by French fashion brand Castelbajac Paris and the scent is a warm floral with a lily of the valley note rising most. It’s HERE.
