Victoria’s Secret lingerie makes its way to Malaysia

In conjunction with the opening of the first Victoria’s Secret lingerie store in Malaysia, retail partner Valiram opened the store a day early for a special preview shopping evening for VIPs and influencers.

Guests enjoyed champagne and canapès as they perused through the beautiful new store which carries the Victoria’s Secret brand’s signature bras, panties and sleepwear as well as the full lines of brand’s beauty and fragrance products.

The glamorous store design exuded an elegant and intimate feel enhanced by custom-designed chandeliers and lingerie-inspired detailing, with specific rooms to showcase the signature collections including Dream Angels, Bombshell, Very Sexy and Body by Victoria.

Many guests were eager to try out the services of Victoria’s Secret Bra Fit Experts who were on hand to help women find their best fit.

The 8,233 sq ft space is dedicated to the glamorous and dynamic lingerie and beauty brand, the fourth Victoria’s Secret lingerie boutique launched by L Brand Inc’s retail partner in South-East Asia and Oceania, lifestyle and luxury group Valiram, following the success of the Victoria’s Secret full assortment stores in Singapore, Macau and Bali.

The new store features a full assortment of the iconic Victoria’s Secret lingerie collections, including Body by Victoria, Very Sexy, Dream Angels, Bombshell, T-Shirt Collection, as well as the brand’s athletic line Victoria Sport. Alongside the brand’s bestselling lingerie will be Victoria’s Secret signature scents, body care collections and Victoria’s Secret PINK, a collection of bras, panties, lounge wear and beauty inspired by and targeting university-aged women.

Perrier-Jouët and Chef Jeff Ramsey serve up a fine dining experience

Chef Jeff Ramsey cooked up a delicious affair, crafting a menu fit for the fussiest of epicureans at fun dining restaurant Babe in Kuala Lumpur, which gave diners a chance to savour the finer things in life, specifically champagne and food.

The unique culinary experience, held over three weekends, was part of a dinner series named “Art of the Wild” hosted by  champagne Maison Perrier-Jouët to celebrate the appointment of one-Michelin Star Ramsey as Perrier-Jouët’s Chef Ambassador for Malaysia.

Ramsey earned his stripes by working his way up from dishwasher to being a full-fledged sushi chef. In his quest to develop his own original style, he also studied under chef Jose Andres and went on to become the first and still only American to earn a Michelin Star outside of the United States.

The art-nouveau-themed dinner series was inspired by Perrier-Jouët champagne’s floral bouquet borne out of the champagne house’s 200-year-old history. Guests had a taste of Ramsey’s Autumn menu, using only the freshest produce and seasonal discoveries, paired with Perrier-Jouët champagne by the flute.

The collaboration between Perrier-Jouët and Ramsey, the only Michelin-starred chef with a restaurant in Malaysia, saw the perfect complement for entreés such as the “Crystal Gyoza” and “Umami Tartlette” with Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2008.

This progressed to Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut that was coupled with an amazing “Foie Gras Monaka Sandwich”, “Braised Beef Tongue and Wagyu Tartare” and Nagano Walnut Soba. For a satisfying finish, the Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé made lovely accompaniment for the Crispy Burdock, Chicken and dessert which was VSOP Infused Chestnuts and Vanilla Creme.

Inspired by the chef’s tour of Japan, prices were from RM220++ for a six-course to RM680++ for a full 11-course meal.

It is all getting curiouser and curiouser, to borrow a quote from Alice in Wonderland, as Martell’s year-long “Reward The Curious” campaign debuts nationwide.

During a memorable evening of cocktails and canapés that foreshadowed a bespoke tasting menu to pair with Martell and Chivas, it was announced that epicureans could look forward to a coming dinner series that will take diners on a breathtaking culinary journey through the four seasons.

In a rare collaboration, Asian Food Channel celebrity chef Sherson Lian will come up with two seasonal signature canapés, all of which have been exclusively crafted for pairing. Served to the guests at pre-dinner cocktail receptions, this added-value experience will be available at a few outlets around the country.

The year-long, immersive dining series offer both Chinese European cuisines that will be set against a multi-sensorial backdrop replete with performances inspired by each city.

“If I were to humbly sum up my experience in Malaysia thus far, I would surmise that Malaysians truly bond with loved ones over the love and pleasure of food discoveries.

“We want to pay homage to truly Malaysian ethos as we believe that moments of conviviality over food and drinks should be inclusive and shared with one’s community,” said Pernod Ricard Malaysia managing director Sébastien Mouquet.

A special menu will be developed by each restaurant to pair with the 85 unique flavour notes of Chivas 18 and the distinctive floral aromas of Martell cognacs, including the newly released Martell VSOP Aged In Red Barrel that is specifically crafted for food pairing.

To up the ante of the dinner series which made its debut in 2017, the Seasonal Rewards contest will see top spenders and lucky draw winners getting all-expense paid trips for two to city destinations featured at the dinners’ themes.

At the Grand Finale, the Grand Prize of a brand-new Mercedes Benz E class and the First prize of two all-expense paid trip to the Chateau de Chanteloup in France, once the residence of the House of Martell’s Jean Martell as well as two all-expenses paid trips to Strathisla Distillery, home to Chivas Regal in Scotland, will be given away.

At the event, new Martell brand ambassador Frenchman Jean-Baptiste was also introduced for the first time.

Growing up in Bretagne, Baptiste feels very bounded to the Cognac region as he has family there. He first joined Pernod Ricard France as a brand manager trainee for gin and whisky brands, and hopes to share his passion for what he considers some of the best ambassadors of the French culture: cognac and champagne, with Malaysians. — Patsy Kam

De Beers opens a new luxury concept boutique in KLCC

De Beers unveiled its new luxury concept boutique at Suria KLCC, located on the retail podium Petronas Tower 3, in an event attended by about 60 distinguished guests and members of the media, including celebrities Karena Teo, Anjoe Koh, Serena Choong and Daniel Tan.

Andrew Coxon, President of De Beers Institute of Diamonds, an internationally renowned expert in diamonds with over 50 years’ experience at De Beers Group who flew in especially for the event, and De Beers Diamond Jewellers Malaysia brand director Ng Sheau Yuen greeted guests at the new luxury boutique, which reflects the heritage of De Beers and showcases a varied array of its timeless jewellery creations in an atmosphere of welcoming elegance and warmth.

A model paraded around showcasing some of the brand’s high jewellery pieces for guests to get a closer look at, some which were specially flown in from London for this occasion.
