L’Occitane Malaysia and SpecTruck gives the ‘gift of sight’

L’Occitane Malaysia just teamed up with SpecTruck to provide eye care and spectables for the poor and needy through Ti-Ratana Welfare Society.

Since 2009, L’Occitane Malaysia has been raising funds for local blindness prevention projects.

This year, in line with L’Occitane Malaysia’s Cares About Sight programme to fight avoidable blindness, the brand has teamed up with SpecTruck for the first time. It aims to reach out to the poor and needy at Ti-Ratana Welfare Society in Kuala Lumpur for those with visual impairment issues.

With a donation of RM45,000 by L’Occitane Malaysia, the amount went to helping 300 senior citizens, single women and children to obtain eye screening and glass prescriptions for 200 of them within 24 hours.

Three hundred senior citizens, single women and children were given access to eye screening and glass prescriptions were provided for 200 of them within 24 hours.

“As L’Occitane continues to care for sight, we need to aspire more than what we have already accomplished for the blind community. Our aim is to be more than just a mere beauty brand that thrives on selling great products. With our brand values to respect authenticity and sensoriality, we want to touch lives by helping the less fortunate,” says Clarance Boo, PR manager for L’Occitane Malaysia.

At this recent initiative, SpecTruck – fully sponsored by L’Occitane – set up their mobile vehicle at the Ti-Ratana building to provide education on eye health, free eye screenings and optical advice. Plus a brand new pair of spectacles tailored to their individual requirement for those in need.

Along with education on eye health, they were provided with free eye screenings, optical advice and a brand new pair of spectacles tailored to their individual requirement.

Among those who received this service were the elderly between the age of 50 and 90 where most were afflicted with cataract. Others were children aged seven and above on far-sighted and other visual impairment issues.

“Being a first in providing mobile SpecTruck services locally, it is also the first time we are working with a meaningful company like L’Occitane Malaysia. We are very thankful for this opportunity to spread the awareness of good eyesight, to treat various eye diseases and most importantly to reward children and old folks with bad eyesight with new spectacles,” says Datuk Seri David Sew, the founder of SpecTruck.

If you want to do your bit, L’Occitane is organising the Race For Vision Malaysia 2018 on July 1, a charity fun run (suitable for families) at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, to create awareness on fighting avoidable blindness and raise funds.
